Inspired by the example of former Talk of the North columnist Mike Neal and his wife Chrissie, more intrepid Alcudia residents are upping sticks (though in this case, anchor) and leaving Mallorca for a new life in Bulgaria.

Jane and Mike, pictured below, from Puerto Alcudia’s Puddleduck greetings cards and gifts shop, decided it was time for a change and, after a holiday to see Mike and Chrissie, settled on Bulgaria as their new home.

At a farewell drinks party at the Crew Bar on AlcudiaMar, Jane was full of enthusiasm for their new venture, but explained that she and Mike were not taking up the easy option of boarding a plane. Since the couple live on their boat in Alcudia and didn’t want to leave it behind, they are taking it all the way across the sea to the Bulgarian coast. We wish them all the best for their journey and the future.
