Top Triathlon in the Port Print
Wednesday, 05 September 2007

Puerto Pollensa is playing host to a top triathlon event on Saturday September 15th. The 1st Puerto Pollensa Triathlon Sprint involves athletes competing in the Balearic Championships and is a prestigious sporting occasion for the port.

The Triathlon is  made up of a 750 metre swim, a 20 kilometre cycle ride and a five kilometre run, and since it is a sprint and therefore over short(ish!) distances will make for a fabulous spectator sport. No hanging around for ages waiting for cyclists or runners to come by on the return leg, you will be able to see the competitors several times as they push hard to win each of the stages.

The swimming stretch will take place in the sea near the Hotel Sis Pins at the start of Puerto Pollensa’s Pine Walk, while cyclists will be whizzing along the new bypass at the back of the port. The final running stage will cover the sea-front between the Hotel Sis Pins and the Hotel Pollensa Park area.

Exact timing for the event was not available as Talk of the North went to press, but it is most likely to start in the afternoon.
