Hermenegild Anglada-Camarasa - Barcelona 1871 - Port de Pollença 1959

Spanish Catalan painter who studied at the Escola de Belles Artes of Barcelona. He took part in numerous international exhibitions and won fame with his almost expressionistic scenes of Spanish dance and iridescent nocturnal Parisian scenes. which influenced the young Picasso and Kandinsky. Until 1914 he lived in Paris and then settled in Port de Pollença and predominantly painted landscapes. Anglada-Camarasa was very successful in the USA where he exhibited in many cities. Exhibitions also took place in Buenos Aires, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Madrid, London and Liverpool.

There is a permanent exhibition of his work in the Fundacion La Caixa in Palma.
Dionís Bennàssar (1904-1967)
He was a great Mallorcan painter (watercolours, portraits, drawings, sculptures and oils on canvas) working with sincerity, emotion and truth. According to the wordings of the Fundació Dionís Bennàssar: "He is the youngest member of an emblematic generation that developed its intellectual and creative potential from the latter half of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. As a result of that generation´s activity, the Pollença district became known as the greatest and most important cultural centre in Majorca."
